The Regent Bowerbird (Sericulus chrysocephalus) male is so startling with jet black and iridescent gold plumage that he quite takes your breath away. When processing photos you have to dial down the contrast to get a decent image.
These birds are found on central eastern parts of Australia in rainforest areas.
The female Regent Bowerbird is no less interesting with her scaly brown breast and bright yellow eye.
