The Golden Bowerbird (Prionodura newtoniana) is probably the rarest of the Australian Bowerbird family and certainly the most difficult to find. I have only seen the male and he is quite incredible, building the largest and most complex bowers that often extend over a large area or over several places.
Their range is restricted to rainforests on the east of tropical north Queensland.
The male Golden Bowerbird is a stunning yellow with darker, olive wings and facial areas. You know when he is coming as he has an electronic sounding buzz.
I have never even seen the female!
