The Spotted Bowerbird (Chlamydera maculata) is similar to the Great and Western Bowerbirds and is found in the drier areas of the eastern half of Australia.
As usual, when I have encountered the Spotted Bowerbird I heard them first. That familiar hiss always makes me smile.
As well as building a bower, the Spotted Bowerbird has a pink crest tucked away on the back of its neck. When it is at the bower and displaying to the female, he shows the crest to her.
The Spotted Bowerbird I found had decorated its bower with white stones and debris.
