The Black-faced Cuckooshrike (Coracina novaehollandiae) is, in my experience, the most commonly seen of the species across Australia, present in all but the driest and hottest areas. They can also be found into Indonesian areas. Plumage is a slate grey on the back with black markings on the wings and a distinct black mask across the face. The belly is a paler grey. They have an unusual electronic buzzing kind of call and that is often the first indication they are around as they call when flying.Â
